Another week down

Whew! I've already subbed eight times this school year. My advice to current student teachers is to make friends with the permanent subs at the schools you're placed in. It'll pay off later, especially if you're like me and don't find a full time job right out of school. The permanent sub at Bob Jones hunts me down to give me the first pick when teachers request subs...in the past few days she has given me some pretty sweet jobs over the next few weeks, including two days in Ms. N's class, a day in Mr. H's class, and three straight days in Ms. O's class. All of them are history too. Awesome! Then there's DMS...I'm teaching all next week in 9th grade Modern World History. If you prove yourself early on and follow high standards, you'll be ahead of the game.

Earlier this week when I was subbing in 7th grade Language Arts, the principal walked in during first block. The students were quietly working and she asked me what I was doing, so I told her what they were currently working on and what I was doing with them later. She complemented my organization and asked me to let her know if there was anything I needed. I responded "a job!"

I hope she remembers that :)
